Shingles-related nerve pain can continue even after the rash has healed. At DCH SpineCare Center, patients with shingles or post-herpetic neuralgia receive personalized evaluation and access to interventional pain management services based on their symptoms and needs.
What Is Shingles/Post-Herpetic Neuralgia?
Shingles is caused by reactivation of the chickenpox virus and may lead to a painful rash. Post-herpetic neuralgia is ongoing nerve pain that continues after the shingles rash is gone, sometimes causing burning, stabbing or highly sensitive skin.
Symptoms/Conditions
- Burning, stabbing or electric-like pain.
- Skin sensitivity or pain from light touch.
- Persistent discomfort after a shingles outbreak.
- Trouble sleeping or concentrating because of nerve pain.
- Pain that affects daily activities and quality of life.

Depending on the pattern and severity of pain, care may include evaluation, imaging when indicated, injections or other interventional pain procedures, and ongoing management through a comprehensive treatment plan.
If Shingles/Post-Herpetic Neuralgia is making it harder to stay active and independent, SpineCare Center can help identify options for relief. Call (205) 759-7246 to schedule care
