Care You Can Expect

When you arrive at a DCH Emergency Department, your visit typically includes:
• A triage assessment to determine how quickly you need to be seen based on your symptoms.
• Evaluation by an emergency physician or nurse practitioner, supported by specialized nursing staff.
• Access to diagnostic services such as lab tests, X‑ray, CT, MRI, and other imaging as needed.
• Coordination with specialty services at DCH (such as trauma, stroke, cardiology, and surgery) when appropriate.

Because emergency departments care for patients with the most serious needs first, wait times can vary. Patients with life‑threatening conditions are prioritized for immediate care.
