Congrats to our first group DAISY Award - A Life Saved Through Extraordinary Teamwork! These five nurses from across the hospital came together, here is their nomination:
I would like to nominate Scotti, Hannah, Allie, Carson and Colby in recognition of their extraordinary actions and professionalism during a medical emergency on hospital property. On the afternoon of 05/21/26, at approximately 1:30 PM, Scotti was leaving the hospital and walking through the parking deck when a nursing student urgently approached her asking for help. Without hesitation, Scotti immediately responded and found an unresponsive woman in a vehicle stopped on the parking deck ramp.
Upon assessment, the visitor was pulseless and exhibiting agonal respirations. Recognizing the severity of the situation, Scotti quickly took charge of the emergency. She instructed others to help position the patient and immediately began CPR inside the vehicle until additional help arrived and the patient could safely be moved to the ground for more effective compressions.
Scotti continued performing high-quality chest compressions alongside other responders until EMS arrived. The patient was found to be in a shockable rhythm and required multiple defibrillations and advanced cardiac life support interventions before return of spontaneous circulation was achieved.
The patient regained a pulse and was transported by ambulance for continued care. Scotti demonstrated exceptional clinical judgment, leadership, composure, and selflessness during a highly stressful and chaotic event. Her rapid recognition of cardiac arrest and immediate initiation of CPR directly contributed to this patient having a chance at survival.
Hannah, Allie, Allison, Carson and Colby were also helping with this emergency. Allie Porter provided great high-quality compressions.
