Congratulations to DCH's latest BEE winner, Brandon Griego!

We're excited to announce our latest BEE Award winner, Brandon Griego from LiveWell Primary Care! Here is his nomination....

"I witnessed Brandon demonstrate compassionate care during a visit involving my son that truly left a lasting impact on both of us.

My son began having severe headaches, and I knew something wasn't right, so l scheduled an appointment for him to see Dr. Baldeck. Brandon was the medical assistant who called my son back and began working up his chart. My son is 10 years old, about 5 feet tall and 209 pounds, and like many kids his age he can be a little guarded and unsure in medical settings. From the moment Brandon called him back for vitals, he immediately made my son feel comfortable. Brandon started asking him questions about sports and school and took time to talk with him rather than rushing through the process. Brandon mentioned that he had moved here from out of state for school and that one of his roommates plays football for the University of Alabama. My son's face instantly lit up and he immediately connected with Brandon. In that moment, Brandon turned what could have been a stressful visit into a positive experience.

During that visit my son was diagnosed with pre-diabetes, which as a parent is difficult news to hear. At his follow-up appointment, Brandon once again worked him up and handled the situation with incredible compassion. Knowing my son's diagnosis, Brandon never made him feel embarrassed or ashamed. Instead, he spoke to him with encouragement and positivity about making better food choices and staying active. He treated my son with respect and uplifted him rather than making him feel judged. As a mother, that meant everything to me because children remember how people make them feel, especially in situations involving their health."
