Urology Websites

If you are like me I sometimes cringe when a patients starts to tell me about something they have read on the internet or seen on late night TV. While there is good information available sometimes it seems that the bad information is easiest to find!

I am always excited when I find education websites or resources that is helpful for our patients. The Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN) is a great example. This organization was started by bladder cancer patients and their website, www.bcan.org, has great information and very useful insights for patients.

I am a member of the Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates (SUNA) and their website, www.suna.org has a resource section where you can find over 20 free patient education pages regarding urologic issues. There are some that have been translated into Spanish. These can be downloaded so that you can have them ready to hand to patients while they are there in the office. I am including the bladder health sheet so you can get an idea of the information that is available.

The American Urologic Association also has a patient centered website, www.urologyhealth.org. On this website you can find good reliable information about pretty much any urologic condition or question. I often refer patients to that site or print information for them.
