DCH Announces Pay Increases

DCH Announces Pay Increases

(March 22, 2023, Tuscaloosa, Ala.) Starting with the April 13, 2023 paycheck, with few exceptions, all employees at DCH Health System will receive either a 5 percent cost of living adjustment or market adjustment, whichever is greater.

“This is an ongoing $25 million investment in our caregivers and the DCH organization,” said Katrina Keefer, president and CEO of the DCH Health System. “I’m hopeful that our caregivers and the community see that we are serious when we say that DCH is seeking to be the employer of choice for not only the best and brightest, but those most committed to excellence in patient care.”

DCH engaged a health care workforce expert to review all positions in the system to determine if the salary rates and ranges were competitive. Based on those findings, DCH is implementing pay increases of 5 percent or more depending on the position and how it compared to similar roles at other health systems in the region.

As an example of the impact of the new rates, the entry level rate for RNs will increase by $6 an hour.

This announcement comes eight months after the system increased its minimum wage for positions such as personal care assistant, environmental services and food services employees from $10 an hour to $14 an hour, which dramatically reduced vacancy rates for those positions and has continued to contribute to lower turnover rates for the system.

“This will help better position DCH for rewarding, retaining and attracting top talent, and those are key components to better care,” said Keefer. “We understand the importance of earning the trust of the communities we serve, and feel that we will be best positioned to do so with this investment in our greatest assets, our team of caregivers.”
