Plaque Honoring Former Rad Tech Unveiled at DCH School of Radiologic Technology

A recognition reception and plaque presentation was recently held for Kay Dodson Dockery at the DCH School of Radiologic Technology.

Kay was born in Tuscaloosa; the oldest of two daughters of Mr. & Mrs. Billie Dodson. Following graduation from Brookwood High School in 1975, she was accepted into both the DCH School of Nursing and the DCH School of Radiologic Technology; ultimately choosing the radiology school because of the lower tuition costs. After graduating from DCH’s School of Radiologic Technology, she began her career at DCH as a radiology tech. As fate would have it, she met her husband, George Dockery, through a co-worker in the Radiology Department at DCH. Kay enjoyed a rewarding career of many years at DCH as a radiology tech and met many life-long friends while employed here. It is Kay and her family’s hope that this scholarship will help others pursue a career in this very rewarding field by creating this endowment of the Kay Dodson Dockery Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving and outstanding student at the DCH School of Radiologic Technology who excels in academics, demonstrates financial need and is a life-long resident of Tuscaloosa County.

The plaque honoring this endowed gift is located at the family waiting room in the inpatient Radiology Department of DCH.

Special thanks goes out to the entire Dockery Family for your commitment and dedication for the education of future DCH radiologic technologists.
