Inpatient Elective Procedures to Resume

Beginning Tuesday, May 19, at Northport Medical Center and Friday, May 22, at DCH Regional Medical Center, inpatient elective procedures (those people who are generally expected to remain hospitalized for more than one night) may be scheduled and performed. Unless already hospitalized, those patients will go through the current elective procedures process, including COVID-19 testing, prior to proceeding.

Due to current extended lengths of stay for COVID-19 positive patients and Patients Under Investigation (PUIs), patients for whom a COVID-19 test has been ordered and the result is pending, the bed capacity for elective procedures remains limited and continues to be assessed daily.

Should procedural capacity become a challenge due to limited bed availability or other supply issues, scheduled elective cases may have to be postponed and posting of new elective cases delayed.

We know there are many out there who need these procedures, and we are working hard to make them possible. We thank our physicians, staff and community for their patience as we seek to provide the safest, best care possible for our patients.

For now, DCH’s limited visitation policy remains the same. The most up-to-date version can be found here.
