187th Fighter Wing to Conduct Flyover of DCH Tomorrow

187th Fighter Wing to Conduct Flyover of DCH Tomorrow

Tomorrow, May 5, the 187th Fighter Wing will conduct a flyover of the VA Medical Center and DCH Regional Medical Center. The flyover is part of “Operation Air Force Salutes” which is designed to recognize frontline heroes in the hospitals who are treating patients with COVID-19. Two of the unit’s F-16C Fighting Falcon aircraft are expected to pass over the medical centers between noon and 12:10 p.m. tomorrow.

The wing’s fighter squadron is descended from the 100th Fighter Squadron, the distinguished Tuskegee Airmen from World War II. The 187th Fighter Wing is nicknamed the “Redtails” as the tails of some of the aircraft are painted red in tribute to that heritage and how those airmen painted their planes.

Thank you, heroes of the 187th, for honoring health care heroes!
