We're excited to announce our latest BEE Award winner, Elizabeth Frederick! Here is her nomination....
"Elizabeth was my mom’s PTA in December 2024 after several back to back hospital stays. Her sister was also at DCH in the Noland Hospital. They were very close. They hadn’t been able to see each other for a long while due to illness of one or the other. My mom spoke about my aunt’s declining health and the much longer than usual time they had been apart.
Unknowing to us, Elizabeth spoke with my aunt’s PT and was able to work out for my mom to be taken by wheelchair to my aunt’s bedside. My aunt had Alzheimer’s but recognized my mom immediately. They had a great reunion and were able to visit for a few precious moments. Two of my cousins and I were there to be a small part of this. There was not a dry eye in the room or hallway. We lost my aunt a few weeks later. This was the last time the two sisters were able to be together.
We are very grateful to Elizabeth for her thoughtfulness and insight and to the entire PT team for making this all come together. My mother talks about this often and is so thankful for this happy reunion. I have written this nomination a hundred times in my head, but it has taken a year to actually put it in writing. Thank you, Elizabeth!! You are the best and we love you for being such a caring and thoughtful caregiver."

BEE stands for Being Exceptional Everyday. This award recognizes extraordinary service from our non-nursing staff. Any employee from any department (except RNs) can be nominated for the BEE Award. RNs are recognized for exceptional service with The DAISY Award.
BEE Award nominations will be accepted from patients, patients’ family members, physicians, DCH employees and volunteers. If you’ve experienced or witnessed extraordinary service from a DCH team member, then nominate that person for the BEE Award.
