We're excited to announce our latest Daisy Award Winner, Deana Richardson from RMC's TSICU! Here is her nomination...
"Hello, my name is Meredith Mettee Burnett, and I have been an Occupational Therapist at DCH in the past. I know good bedside manner, and I know how hard patient care can be. Nurse Deana Richardson goes way beyond “good bedside manner.”
My dad was in her care May of 2023. My family wanted to write up a Daisy nomination for her then, but we haven’t forgotten and I’m writing it now.
Deana helped save my dad’s life. My dad speaks her name out loud to this day, thanking her for all she did to help him. Deana didn’t just do her job, she treated us like family and took care of my dad as if he were her own. She never made us feel like we were bothering her, and she answered every single question, giving us all comfort along the way.
We were able to leave my dad in her care because of the way she made us feel at peace every hour that she had him. When Deana knew we were coming to see my dad, she would get him all “spiffy” for us. Everything mattered to Deana. Every detail was taken care of by Deana. We never had to worry when she was there. We truly have no words great enough to thank her for her kindness to us. We thank God for her and we hope that she will be honored with a Daisy award from us. Thank you beyond word Deana.
