General Information

The DCH Health System offers a 4 semester / 16-month full-time program of instruction in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

The DCH Sonography Program is located at 408-B Bryant Drive East, across from DCH Regional Medical Center, a 583-bed referral hospital serving a 10 county area in West Alabama.

The faculty and staff are dedicated to provide the best possible educational environment and instruction to assure competency in all areas of the established curriculum. The program is committed to providing high quality healthcare professionals to any medical community.

Students receive a minimum of 900 contact hours of scheduled classroom experience and at least 1,100 contact hours of clinical experience during the 4-semester program.

The Sonography Program is under direction of the Director of Imaging Services and the Medical Advisor of the Program. The program faculty includes a full-time Program Director and Clinical Coordinator. The program also has clinical instructors assigned to each clinical education center. The professional staff of the Department of Imaging, including the radiologists and registered sonographers also provides instruction.

Hospitalization insurance coverage is not available through DCH and is to be supplied by the student.
