DAISY Winner: Mallory Gibson

Congratulations to Mallory Gibson, an RN on MICU 3, DCH Regional Medical Center, for being named the most recent recipient of The DAISY Award.

She was nominated by Terri Ledbetter, clinical nurse educator, who wrote:

“Mallory is a relatively new RN, but is totally dedicated to her patients. She bathed one of her patients [who had] very long hair and went the extra mile to braid her hair to keep it clean. The patient later passed away, but the family loved the hair so much that Mallory was asked to braid the patient’s hair for the funeral. Mallory went to the funeral home and braided the patient’s hair. This meant so much to the family.”

The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses is an international program that honors the compassionate care and clinical excellence nurses bring to their patients every day. The program is now in 4,300 health care facilities across 26 countries.

DCH employees may nominate a nurse for The DAISY Award throughout the year. Click here for the nomination form.
