Dr. David Dean Joins West Alabama Cardiac Surgery

West Alabama Cardiac Surgery welcomes Dr. David Dean, cardiothoracic surgeon, to its medical staff.

Dr. Dean received his bachelor’s degree from Colgate University in New York and his medical degree from the UMDNJ – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey. He comes to DCH from the Piedmont Heart Institute in Atlanta.

He completed his cardiothoracic residency at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and his internship in surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire. He is board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Dean is a member of a number of professional societies including the American College of Surgeons, the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.

Dr. Dean specializes coronary bypass surgery, heart valve repair and replacement, adult congenital heart problems and procedures, heart rhythm disorders, heart failure and general thoracic surgery.
