West Alabama Vascular & Endovascular Surgery
Welcome to West Alabama Vascular and Endovascular Surgery (WAVES). Our staff is devoted entirely to the treatment of vascular disease and providing our patients with all treatment options. It is our philosophy to treat each patient with respect, dignity and expertise.
Our Provider
Dr. Melanie Rose is board certified in general surgery and vascular surgery. She is a member of the Alabama Vascular Society and numerous other societies. She is the author of many scientific articles and book chapters, and she continues to perform ongoing clinical research in vascular surgery. Dr. Rose is a UAB Medicine Vascular Surgeon and is a clinical assistant professor in the UAB Department of Surgery at the Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine.
WAVES provides a complete selection of different treatment options for vascular disease. Our clinic is able to perform nonoperative stents/balloons on vascular blockages; surgical bypasses when necessary; clean out of blocked arteries; and treatment of complications arising from vascular procedures. Dr. Rose is also a vascular wound specialist.

Patient Follow Up
Vascular conditions are lifelong problems, and we are dedicated to periodic follow up with all of our patients. Patients receive periodic reminders to make an appointment for routine follow-up visits or to have vascular tests performed. This is an important part of the patient’s overall treatment plan.
Vascular Laboratory
Our in-office vascular laboratory services include peripheral arterial testing, peripheral venous testing and extracranial cerebrovascular testing. Most diagnostic vascular laboratory studies are provided in our office as a convenience to our patients.
Office Personnel
Our staff is happy to assist with any questions or concerns. Please feel free to contact us during office hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. until noon on Friday. Unless it is an emergency, calls made to our nurse after 4 p.m. will be returned the next day.
Appointments
Appointments can be made by calling our office at 205-750-5752 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. until noon on Friday.
In case of emergency: Dr. Rose will see patients any time an urgent problem arises. Our office phone number is answered 24 hours a day. Coverage by other vascular surgeons is available when Dr. Rose is unavailable.
Prescription Refill
Prescription refills are issued only during office hours.
Billing
We accept Medicare, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and are members of most insurance plans. Our office manager can address any questions about insurance coverage or billing.
