Our Nurse Practitioners

Kristi Acker, DNP, PhD, CRNP

Kristi Acker is a Family Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience focusing on adult health, oncology, and palliative care. Primarily servicing our Fayette clinic, Kristi collaborates with Dr. Anguiano. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Alabama followed by a Master of Science in Nursing at Mississippi University for Women. After receiving her certification as a Nurse Practitioner, she earned a Doctorate Degree in Nurse Practice from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Kristi is a member of Birmingham regional Organization of Nurse Leaders, Sigma Theta tau Honor Society of Nursing, West Alabama Nurse Practitioner Association, and the North Alabama Nurse practitioner Association. She is a Certified Oncology Nurse (ONCC) and Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (ONCC). She also has her certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (ANCC), and in Basic Life Support (AHA).

Kristi devised and implemented a formal research study on The Knowledge Level and Teaching Practice of Hospice Nurses Regarding Terminal Dehydration as a partial fulfillment for a Master’s Degree in the Science of Nursing. She also devised and implemented practice guidelines concerning palliative care community team members, providing anticipatory and pro-active decision making conversations with patients and family concerning terminal dehydration.

Dee Ann Guy, CRNP

A Tuscaloosa native, Dee Guy was an LPN for DCH Health System until 2001. She then obtained her Associates Degree of Nursing at Shelton State Community College and began working as an RN at DCH Health System. In 2014, Dee received her Master of Science in Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner from Samford University in Birmingham, AL. Dee collaborates with Dr. Bostick and has been with Oncology Associates of West Alabama since July 2014.

Jo Anne Miller, CRNP

Jo Anne Miller began working with Oncology Associates of West Alabama as a Nurse Practitioner in 2008. She first began working in the DCH Cancer Treatment Center in 1999 as a Registered Nurse. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama in 1995, followed by her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2008. She collaborates with Dr. Dubay.

Sondra (Sandi) Lee, DNP, FNP-C

Sandi Lee joined the Oncology Associates of West Alabama staff in October 2017 assisting the on-call physicians in the hospital. She received her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Alabama in 1991, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1994. She obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice, FNP from Troy University in May 2017. During her time at Troy, she completed her Nurse Practitioner Internship in the Emergency Department at DCH Health System.

Sandi is a certified ACLS instructor, PALS Instructor, BLS Instructor, End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium Trainer, and American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Family Nurse Practitioner. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Practitioner Alliance of Alabama, West Alabama Nurse Practitioners Association and Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, Iota Thea Chapter. Sandi has been a speaker at local state and national conferences regarding End of Life Communication. She has also been published in the “Journal of Christian Nursing.”

Traci Morrison, CRNP

Traci Morrison joined the Oncology Associates of West Alabama staff in 2012 collaborating with Dr. Anguiano. After completing her Associate Degree in Nursing at Shelton State Community College in 2005, she worked for the DCH Health System as a Registered Nurse for 7 years. In 2010, she furthered her education at Samford University in Birmingham, AL obtaining her Masters of Science in Nursing. Traci is a member of the American Nurses Association and the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society.

Ginger Nix, CRNP

Ginger Nix is a Family Nurse Practitioner with over 30 years of clinical experience including inpatient oncology, outpatient medical and radiation oncology, home health care and hospice/palliative care. Ginger has collaborated with Dr. Tucker and Dr. Crew in Radiation Oncology at the Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Center since 2019. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Alabama in 1987. After several years of working primarily with oncology patients, she obtained a Master of Science in Nursing at University of Alabama Birmingham with a concentration in Palliative Care in 2008. Ginger is a member of the National Oncology Nursing Society (ONS). She is a certified Oncology Nurse (ONCC) and is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board as a NP-C/Family Nurse Practitioner.

Ginger is a Tuscaloosa native and has served as a board member of Eagles Wings, Inc. a non-profit organization for special needs individuals. She also taught a special needs Sunday school class for her local church for many years. Ginger and her husband Tim have two sons, a daughter in law and a granddaughter. She loves needlepoint of all kinds and spending time with her family.

Haley Tipps, CRNP

Haley Tipps graduated Cum Laude from Samford University in 2003 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and was recipient of the Sara E. Barger Outstanding Graduate Student Award. She completed her Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama in 2018. Haley collaborates with Dr. Hinton and has been with Oncology Associates of West Alabama since November 2018.

Haley is certified by the American Academy of Nurse practitioners Certification Board as a NP-C/Family Nurse Practitioner. She is also a certified PMHNP-BC by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. During Haley’s time at Samford University, she completed an independent study of the Pediatric Oncology Patient at a Local Pediatric Hospital’s Oncology/Hematology Unit. She also completed an independent study of nursing and healthcare in a medically and financially impoverished area of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Her nursing background includes experience in emergency medicine/urgent care, women's health, hospice and clinical instruction. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
