Our EAP Staff

Heather MacLeod, LCSW, CEAP, EAP Director

Heather MacLeod completed her Master of Social Work at St. Catherine University & St. Thomas University in St. Paul, MN. She is a Licensed Certified Social Worker in the State of Alabama, and also holds national certifications in Employee Assistance (CEAP) and Care Management (CCM). Her areas of expertise include individual and couples counseling, stress management, life change adjustment, elder care, critical incident stress management, work issues, and leadership coaching. Heather also holds a Master of Science in Organization & Management from Capella University, and has more than fifteen years of management and leadership experience.


Chip Garrett, LPC

Chip Garrett completed his Master of Arts in Counselor Education at the University of Alabama. His professional credentials include Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Alabama, Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and Qualified Substance Abuse Professional. His areas of expertise include family therapy, divorce adjustment, addictive behaviors, adolescent behavior problems, adventure based training, conflict resolution, critical incident debriefing, and trauma counseling.



 

Sonya W. Guy, LPC

Sonya W. Guy completed her Master of Arts in Counselor Education at the University of Alabama. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Alabama and a National Certified Counselor. Her areas of expertise include individual, marital and family counseling, divorce adjustment, anger and stress management, addictive behaviors, communication skills, anxiety and critical incident debriefing.

Julia Madrid, LPC, EAP Specialist

 

Julia H. Madrid completed her Master of Arts in Counselor Education at the University of Alabama. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Alabama. She is trained in individual, couples, and family counseling. Her areas of expertise include anxiety, couples therapy, stress management, communication skills, divorce adjustment and wellness.



 

Emily S. Smith, LPC

 

Emily S. Smith earned a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology and an Educational Specialist degree and Ph.D. in School Psychology – all from The University of Alabama. Her professional credentials are: Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Employee Assistance Professional, National Certified Counselor, Employee Assistance Specialist-Clinical, and Qualified Substance Abuse Professional. She was named Professional of the Year for the State of Alabama at the Alabama Chapter EAPA annual conference in 2008. Areas of expertise in counseling include couples/marital, stress, anger, anxiety, and depression. Emily has experience with group training/interventions on a variety of topics, including harassment, violence, diversity in the workplace, anger management, and stress management.

 



Susan Sanderson, EAP Assistant

 

Susan assists with answering the telephones, scheduling client appointments, assists clients with completing intake data, and helps maintain the front office. Her excellent customer service is very welcoming.
