Two DCH Leaders Elected to Statewide Positions

Two west Alabama hospitals leaders were recently recognized at the annual meeting of the Alabama Hospital Association (AlaHA). Luke Standeffer, senior vice president of the DCH Health System and administrator of Northport Medical Center, was named chair-elect of the Association, and Donald Jones, RN, MSN, FACHE, the administrator of Fayette Medical Center, was elected president of the West Alabama Regional Hospital Council.

Prior to his tenure in Northport, Standeffer was CEO of HealthSouth Medical Center in Birmingham and before that was administrator of a hospital in Richmond, Va, and assistant administrator at Fayette Medical Center. Standeffer earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Alabama and a Master of Business Administration from Mississippi State University.  He has served the Association as a board member, officer, as president of two of the hospital councils and as chair of several committees. He’s also served on the boards of the Birmingham Area Chamber of Commerce, the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce and the Birmingham Southern College Athletic Foundation.

Jones was named administrator in Fayette in 2014.  Previously, he was administrator of Marion Regional Medical Center and Nursing Home in Hamilton.   He is board-certified in Health Care Management, a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and a licensed nursing home administrator.  This is the second time Jones has served as president of his regional council.  He has also been a two-term board member of the Association, served on numerous committees and served as Regent of the state’s ACHE chapter.  He has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Alabama and a Master of Science Degree in Nursing Service Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. 

Founded in 1921, the Alabama Hospital Association is a statewide trade organization that assists member hospitals in effectively serving the health care needs of Alabama, through advocacy, representation, education and service.
