Donald Jones Named New Administrator for Fayette Medical Center
Donald J. Jones, RN, MSN, FACHE, has been named administrator of Fayette Medical Center. Jones replaces Barry Cochrane, who announced his retirement in May.
Jones comes to Fayette Medical Center from North Mississippi Health Services System, where he served as Chief Executive Officer/Administrator of Tippah County Health Services in Ripley, Miss., and administrator of Marion Regional Medical Center in Hamilton, Prior to that, Jones was administrator of Carraway Burdick West Medical Center in Haleyville., and administrator of three Vaughan Healthcare facilities, a hospital system based in Selma.
His position with Fayette Medical Center is a homecoming to the DCH Health System. Jones worked as a head nurse, clinical director and special projects coordinator for DCH Regional Medical Center in the 1980s and early 1990s.
ones earned his bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Alabama and his master’s degree in nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is a licensed registered nurse and nursing home administrator.
He is currently a regent for Alabama with the American College of Healthcare Executives. He has served as Scale Back Alabama chairman with the Alabama Hospital Association Board of Trustees.
Jones has also held officer positions with the Alabama Hospital Association’s West Council. He is a past chair and member of Blue Cross Blue Shield’ Hospital
Advisory Committee and serves on the board of directors for Hospice
of Northwest Alabama.
Jones and his wife, Sheila, currently reside in Hamilton, where he is involved in several community organizations, including the Hamilton Kiwanis Club and Hamilton Area Chamber of Commerce. He is on the county board of directors for the American Heart Association. They will soon move to Fayette.
