Hannah Lanier and Stephanie Shults are the most recent recipients of the DCH Excellence Award. Nominations for the Excellence Award may be made by an employee of the Health System, volunteers or physicians. The award is based on an employee’s performance, attitude, dependability and dedication.
Hannah Lanier, NICU, Northport Medical Center
Hannah Lanier, a six-year DCH employee, works in the NICU at Northport Medical Center. She embodies compassion, positivity, motivation and teamwork. Hannah thinks outside the box when it comes to her patients and their parents. When she takes care of a baby in the NICU, she doesn’t just focus on the baby; she focuses on the family as a whole. Hannah never makes a family member feel like she does not have time for them. She consistently shows patience and understanding when communicating with family members. She sets a standard of care within our unit and within the hospital.
Stephanie Shults, Supply Chain
Stephanie Shults accepted a position in the Supply Chain Department three years ago after serving 17 years as an RN and nurse manager in Surgical Services. When retirements and long medical leaves left large gaps in coverage for Lab, Cardiovascular and Surgical Services contracts, Stephanie graciously took those contract portfolios in addition to all of her other responsibilities. She has saved thousands of dollars with her attention to detail. Stephanie is also very involved in the community as a volunteer with Hospice of West Alabama, the Dirt, Sweat and Gears Trail Duathlon, youth softball and volleyball.
