New Physician Joins DCH Cancer Center Medical Staff
Susan Bostick, MD, joins the medical staff at the DCH Cancer Center as a medical oncologist.
Dr. Bostick comes to Oncology Associates of West Alabama from Jackson, Miss., where she completed a Hematology/Oncology Fellowship in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Mississippi. She also served as an urgent care physician at G.V. Sonny Montgomery Veterans Affairs in Jackson.
She completed an internal medicine residency in the Department of Internal Medicine and served as a research technician in the Department of Physiology at UM.
Dr. Bostick graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in biology and physics and a doctorate in medicine in the School of Medicine at UM.
She was a Cardiovascular Case Reports Scholar at the Southern Regional meeting of the Southern Society for Clinical Investigation in 2008. Her awards at UM include student in the McDonnell-Barksdale Honors College from 1996-2000, and selection to the Chancellor's Leadership Class in 1996-1997.
Dr. Bostick said she chose cancer treatment as her medical specialty because it is always changing. "Medicines and new treatments and equipment are always being developed and improved," she said. "And it's rewarding to treat patients who can be cured and also to treat patients who may need multiple treatments for an extended time."
"I may not always cure everyone, but I want my patients to feel as comfortable and as good as they can for as long as possible," Dr. Bostick said. "I always try to think of my patients in terms of what I'd want for myself."
Dr. Bostick is board certified in internal medicine. She's a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American College of Physicians.
