The Fayette Medical Center Emergency Department is a 24-hour emergency service department staffed with physicians and professional registered nurses, who are trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Many of our RNs also have additional training in the Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) and/or have advanced certification as a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN).
The department treats a wide variety of emergent, urgent and non-urgent illnesses and injuries. The staff is skilled in recognizing and treating heart attacks, including early recognition and treatment with clot-busting drugs for those meeting the criteria. On-going monitoring of “door-to-drug time” for patients presenting symptoms of heart attack is performed to continually work toward very quick recognition and definitive treatment with the lifesaving clot-buster drugs. Stroke protocol is also available with the availability of clot-busting drugs for ischemic stroke victims that meet the specified criteria.
