Manager Checklist for Employees on Leave
  • Remember that employees may not work at all when on approved continuous leaves unless cleared through Leave Management.
  • Make sure employees are coded correctly on their timesheets (these are legal documents).
  • Remember that when employees miss more than three consecutive days on intermittent FMLA, their leaves becomes continuous and they will be required to submit a doctor’s note before returning to work. If this happens, please ensure that your employee has been cleared by Employee Health before returning to work.
  • Fax any additional information you receive from your employees about their leaves (doctor’s note, release to return to work, request for extension, etc), to Leave Management at 343-8852.
  • Ensure that your employees are cleared to work by Employee Health before you let them work. This is extremely important for employees who have been out on medical leave, from safety and legal perspectives.
  • If employees are released with restrictions, they will not be able to return to work unless they are clarified through Employee Health.
  • Be sure that your employee’s licensure for work (if applicable) is up to date.
  • Be Consistent.
