Improving Quality of Life in West Alabama
Improving the quality of life in the West Alabama community starts with making health care accessible. Our Access to Care plan is an ongoing planning process adding new steps and expanding existing services annually.
One of the major obstacles faced by cancer patients is the financial burden associated with this diagnosis. In 1997, the DCH Foundation established the Help & Hope Fund to ensure that no cancer patient ever has to choose between the basic necessities of life and health care needs. The fund provides patients assistance with medication, transportation, lodging, medical equipment and other items essential to their well being.
As an added convenience to our patients, the Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Center, in partnership with county hospitals, offers satellite clinics outside of Tuscaloosa County. Patients in Bibb, Fayette, Pickens and surrounding counties can receive weekly chemotherapy treatments, hematology services and follow-up care by our board-certified physicians much closer to home.
