DCH Cancer Center Welcomes New Physician

The DCH Cancer Center will welcome a new medical oncologist to their staff in February.

 
 Ariel Anguino Jr., MD
Ariel Anguiano Jr., MD, will join the medical staff of the DCH Cancer Center as a medical oncologist on Feb. 1.   

Dr. Anguiano comes to Oncology Associates of West Alabama from Regional Cancer Care in Durham, N.C. He previously served as an internal medicine physician, vice president of medical affairs at Maine General Medical Center and as an oncology hospitalist in Winslow, Maine.   

Dr. Anguiano, a native of San Diego, Calif., joined the U.S. Marine Corps after high school. After receiving an honorable discharge, he attended the University of California and graduated in 1988 with a degree in biochemistry. He received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in New York in 1992. He completed his internship and residency at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation in La Jolla, Calif.

Dr. Anguiano returned to school in 2006 to receive a fellowship in medical oncology at Duke University Medical College in Durham. He completed this fellowship in 2008 and began his oncology practice.

Dr. Anguiano is board certified in medical oncology and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, the Medical Association of the State of Alabama and the Tuscaloosa County Medical Society.

He and his wife, Linda, have three children. They will live in Northport along with their two horses, two dogs, a cat, a rabbit and a parrot.
