Northport Holding, LLC has announced plans to build a 75-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility.
The 49,000-square-foot facility will be located on about five acres south of the campus of Northport Medical Center on Hospital Drive.
Construction on the $12 million facility is scheduled to begin this summer and should be finished within 12 months. The facility will provide approximately 90 jobs, 75 of which will be full time.
DCH, whose investment will mainly be the property and improvements to the site, will hold a minority interest in the project.
Northport Holding, LLC is affiliated with NHS Management, LLC, which serves 45 facilities in the Southeast.
"We are very proud to partner with the DCH Health System in a project that will have a positive impact on this community," NHS Management, LLC President Norman Estes said. "This facility will enable us to continue to provide the highest quality health care for the people in our service area while providing a substantial number of quality jobs for the area’s economy."
DCH Health System President/CEO Bryan Kindred said, "We are pleased Northport Holding came to us with this project. Mr. Estes and his company have earned an excellent reputation for integrity and for operating quality health facilities."
The property, which is now undeveloped, is in the rezoning process with the city of Northport, and the project is awaiting final approval from the Certificate of Need Review Board in Montgomery.
