Outpatient Therapy Services

If you have an injury or illness that requires therapy, your recovery depends on a number of choices. DCH Health System, offers a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient therapy services with the purpose of helping you become able again.

DCH Outpatient Therapy Services
Through our licensed and certified therapists, DCH Outpatient Therapy Services, located in the Phelps Outpatient Center on the campus of DCH Regional Medical Center, offers a full array of occupational and physical therapies. Each patient's needs will vary. We may address basic life skills, including dressing, mobility and communication, to more advanced tasks required to return to work, driving and recreational activities.

Comprehensive Care
Our licensed and certified therapists work as a team with patients' physicians to provide the best care possible in an attentive and caring atmosphere. Our therapists will design a recovery program based on an evaluation of each patient's needs and goals. DCH Outpatient Therapy Services offers more certified specialty therapists than any other provider in the area:

Therapy Services
Whether you are recovering from an injury, or need to regain more basic functions necessary for independent movement, the licensed physical therapists at DCH Outpatient Therapy Services are available to assist you. Our areas of emphasis in physical therapy include:

Hand Therapy
DCH Outpatient Hand Therapy specializes in rehabilitation of injuries to the hand and arm. Our team of occupational and physical therapists, including two certified hand therapists, serves patients with arthritis, orthopedic injuries, cumulative trauma and industrial injuries. Our caring professionals provide custom splinting and therapy based on the latest medical advancements. (Available at DCH Regional Medical Center.)

Lymphedema Management
Lymphedema is a medical condition characterized by abnormal swelling, usually of the arms or legs, which results from a malfunction of the lymphatic system. We have therapists trained in the treatment of lymphedema who can design a special two- to four-week therapy program to treat lymphedema. (Available at DCH Regional Medical Center.)

Orthopedic
This component of our physical therapy program provides orthopedic assessments of muscular and/or skeletal problems. Specific medical problems commonly treated include muscle strains, injury involving the back, neck, shoulder or foot, tendonitis, knee or shoulder reconstruction and joint replacement.

Spine Care
Spine rehabilitation involves the treatment of spinal disorders such as back strain, disc injuries, hip/leg pain, spurs, whiplash, shoulder/arm pain, headaches and arthritis. Spine rehabilitation emphasizes healing, returning the patient to an optimal functional level in activities of daily living and education to help prevent future spine-related injuries.

Aquatics Therapies
Aquatics therapy uses heated pools to promote ease of movement, decrease pain and relieve stress on joints. The SpineCare Center has a heated pool which is used for physical therapy and outpatient therapy.
